Citrulline Malate (8g) - Citrulline malate is an amino acid which has been making its way to the top of the list for ergogenic supplements. Citrulline malate is a nitric oxide booster which aids in blood flow and vasodilation. By doing so, research has shown citrulline to help reduce muscular fatigue and increase total training volume. Citrulline is also the main component responsible for the PUMP! By increasing plasma L-arginine levels, citrulline promotes the nitric oxide pathway, improving vascular health and bringing nutrient-rich blood to your muscles. At an industry high dose of 8g Citrulline Malate, you can be assured of massive pumps and decreased next-day soreness!
Creatine Monohydrate (5g) - Creatine monohydrate is probably the single most well-researched ergogenic supplement today, with hundreds of studies available to back its beneficial effects. On a molecular level, creatine works by replenishing intramuscular ATP levels, one of the main energy stores used during rapid muscle contractions. Physiologically, this translates into increased potential to get bigger and stronger by pushing more weight and doing more reps in the gym.
Timing of creatine supplementation is not important, though 5g daily is recommended for keeping ATP levels readily available. We include this flavorless compound in our preworkout stack for your performance benefit and added convenience.
Beta-Alanine (4g) - Another highly popular amino acid, Beta-Alanine, works to help increase muscular endurance and stamina. Beta-Alanine, once ingested, creates the amino acid Carnosine which acts as a pH buffer intramuscularly. By keeping the pH stable, this prevents excessive build-up of lactic acid during exercise. Research shows that Beta-Alanine mostly benefits performance efforts in the 1-3 minute range, making it ideal for high-intensity exercises.
Beta-Alanine is perhaps most widely known for providing a tingling sensation from your preworkout. This neutral side-effect, while loved by many but dreaded by some, is completely safe and a great indicator that the preworkout is kicking in! At an industry high of 4g, you'll definitely be feeling the benefits of Beta-Alanine.
Beetroot Extract (3g) - Beetroot is a root vegetable very high in nitrate content. This makes it a great secondary nitric oxide booster! While citrulline boosts nitric oxide via the l-arginine pathway, consumption of naturally sourced nitrates can increase nitric oxide in the body by directly converting from nitrate (NO3) to nitrite (NO2) to nitric oxide (NO). While the physiological effect of Beetroot on vasodilation and blood flow is secondary to that of Citrulline Malate, it still plays a synergistic role in optimally oxygenating your blood and elevating your performance level.
A serving of PRIME(X) contains 3g of Beetroot extract, about as much as a whole fresh beetroot. This provides added potential of nitric oxide production as well as a natural mellow sweetness and bright red color to our formula.
Taurine (2g) - Taurine is a popular amino acid found in almost all energy drinks, including Monster and Red Bull. Taurine is an osmolyte, which means it can act similar to electrolytes by regulating cellular osmosis, or maintaining proper hydration of your cells. This allows for optimal organ function (primarily heart), reduces oxidative stress, and prevents cramping during exercise. The nature of Taurine makes it a great compound to use synergistically for energy drinks and other stimulants, and ongoing research is slowly uncovering its additional benefits in exercise performance.
Research shows that taurine should be taken preworkout, alongside any stimulants. PRIME(X) has 2g of Taurine per serving to ensure optimal organ health and performance.
Caffeine (150mg) - Caffeine is likely the most well-studied stimulant in the world. Found naturally in tea and coffee sources, it is responsible for giving you an alert and energetic feeling by tricking your brain into thinking it isn't tired! While higher doses have been shown to benefit physical performance, it is not recommended to consume more than 400mg of caffeine per day, so accounting for alternative caffeine consumption, our 150mg dose provides a safe and effective middle ground for alertness during exercise.
L-Theanine (150mg) - Extracted from tea leaves, L-theanine is the compound which promotes relaxation without drowsiness. This works synergistically with caffeine at a 1:1 ratio, as it does in tea, further promoting a clean focus during your workout without the associated caffeine comedown afterwards.
Sodium (110mg) & Potassium (210mg) - Last but not least, we can't forget how important optimal hydration is during an intense workout. The basics never go out of style, that's why electrolyte drinks like Gatorade were the first ever performance drinks, and they're still around today. The fact is, we sweat when we workout, and if we only replenish that loss with water, we would suffer from electrolyte depletion, leading to quick fatigue and muscular cramping. With as much electrolytes as a bottle of Gatorade and half a banana, PRIME(X) is ready to take you the whole 9 yards.
